The following is a summary of incidents that required a response by officers with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) between Aug. 24 to September 2, 2014.
• The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in Churchill Falls responded to a local Hotel Lounge in regards to a disturbance Sunday August 24h at approximately 3:35 am. Upon arrival officers discovered a 25-year-old male with non-life threatening injuries. The victim and witnesses advised that he was involved in an altercation with two males in the lounge. As a result of the investigation a 27-year-old Grand Falls Windsor man and a 24-year-old Labrador city man were charged with assault and mischief to property. The accused were both released to attend court at a later date.
• A traffic safety stop was conducted on a vehicle operating on Route 500 in Labrador City August 30th at approximately 11:30 pm after RNC received a tip from a concerned member of the public. A 49-year-old Nova Scotia male driver of the vehicle was subsequently investigated for driving while impaired by alcohol. He was later charged with impaired driving and driving over the legal limit. The driver was released to appear in court on a later date.
•The RNC in Labrador West received a call of a possible impaired driver on Bartlett Drive in Labrador City September 2, 2014 at approximately 2:20 am. As a result of this information a 35 year old male was charged with Impaired Driving and Driving over the Legal Limit. The male was released to appear in court at a later date.
•An anonymous complaint was received by RNC September 2 at approximately 2:20 am, concerning a possible impaired driver in the area of Bartlett Drive, Labrador City. Officers located the vehicle in the same area. The male driver fled on foot from his vehicle. Officers located the male driver in a wooded area. As a result a 35-year-old Labrador City man was arrested and charged with impaired driving and driving over the legal limit. The driver was released to appear in court at a later date.
