Conception Bay North town launches new website, promotional video

The Town of Carbonear has been cast into the spotlight after a promotional video by Communities of Distinction, an international television program, was aired at a public meeting Monday, March 2.

During a website re-launch event, town councillors, management and local business owners watched the five minute video, which promotes Carbonear as an up-and-coming municipality with opportunities for growth.

Communities of Distinction focuses on towns and cities that it considers “brimming with opportunity.” The segment will air on several television networks across Canada and the United States.

The video has been placed on the homepage of the town’s website — Carbonear.ca — and features several businesses, town leaders and historic sites.

The voiceover for the video features Terry Bradshaw, former NFL quarterback and winner of four Super Bowl championships.

Launching the town’s new website arguably came at just the right time.

For several years, locals have been asking for updates and changes to the former site, which was launched in 2012 after a rebranding of the town. A new logo and marketing strategy were introduced at that time.

Since, locals have been asking when more was going to be done, and what would be next for the town.

In February, Carbonear hired Kai Bath as its new Economic Development Officer, who has already started orchestrating the town’s 10-year municipal plan. Now the new website and video, which the town expects is just the beginning.

With the launch of the new website, councillors and town management hope to keep local residents informed on what is happening in the town, and open the doors for more growth and development, both residential and commercial.
