Three men were arrested Friday in connection with a two-month-old armed robbery case on the north shore of the Bay of Islands.

The Corner Brook Royal Canadian Mounted Police arrested Mark George Childs, Craig Clayton Pittman, and Allan Sonny Pijogge, and each were charged with single counts of robbery and disguised with intent.

On April 28, at about 9:30 p.m., two masked men entered First Stop Convenience Store in Irishtown, and demanded tobacco and cash. After leaving the store, they were observed entering a possibly lime green, older model 4 door Hyundai Accent.

The RCMP’s investigation included a CrimeStoppers media release last month asking for public assistance in solving the crime.

The two men were said to be wearing hoodies, dark glasses, hats, gloves, and handkerchiefs over their faces. They were said to be in their mid-20s to early-30s.

In provincial court in Corner Brook Monday, Crown attorney Brenda Duffy consented to the release of Pijogge. He must report to the RCMP on Mondays in Corner Brook or Hopedale, where he is from. he also has a daily curfew between 11 p.m.-6 a.m., and is not allowed to leave the province.

Duffy was opposed to the release of Childs, and a bail hearing is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon. Legal aid lawyer Peter Chaffey had requested additional disclosure to prepare for the hearing, including a copy of the recorded statement provided by Childs. Duffy said she would have to obtain it from police.

Childs had previously served eight months in prison for sexual interference charges involving a young boy over a span of several years. The offences ranged from the summer of 2005 until January of 2009.

Pittman is expected to appear this afternoon.
