This summer has been filled with festivals, activities and concerts throughout the Trinity-Conception-Placentia region.

Municipalities have been hosting their annual family days and barbecues, with snacks, prizes and many fun games for children.

These events give residents that opportunity to show their civic pride by participating in parades and pageants, competitions such as Tiddly in Carbonear, attend live entertainment like in Bay de Verde and put a few bucks into games of chance, which have been a part of events all over the region.

Towns like Bay Roberts have been on the up-and-up when it comes to civic pride. Dancers, floats and costumes are some of the highlights from local parades. And the participation is plentiful for the annual Klondyke Days event.

Spaniard's Bay had a successful Lassy Days festival, with live entertainment and an excellent fireworks display.

Carbonear held a movie night, with the rain holding off long enough for it to be a great time for all.

And don't forget the vintage tea party in New Harbour, which saw young and old participate together for a good old-fashioned cup of tea and biscuits.

But there is still plenty of summer left.

Events like the Cupers Cove Soiree, Hant's Harbour crab festival and Perry's Cove Days are still left to come.

In fact, why not take a trip up the bay or down the shore on the weekends during some big festivals? Maybe take a picnic lunch, drop into the beach for a dip and mingle with some of the locals.

Do you take part in your local municipal celebrations?

There's plenty for children to do, and it gets the whole family outdoors. The kids can even decorate their bikes and scooters for parades.

And there's plenty to do for the adults as well.

So if there are events around your area, get out, celebrate your community and partake in activities.

Not only could it help keep the kids occupied, but it is likely to boost community morale.

Whether it's Whitbourne, Cavendish, Old Perlican, Harbour Grace, or anywhere in between, show some pride in your community.

Volunteers have taken the time to set up fun and challenging activities for all to enjoy, so show them your appreciation.

So why not take part in municipal sponsored events, and give your family, friends and neighbours something to be proud of.
