Letters to the editor -
Dear editor,
The high and mighty Town Council of Carbonear is at it again.
This council has no regard for the integrity of or value of the written word. This has been demonstrated by their complete disregard of the agreement signed by the council of the day in 1990.
For those who do not know, at that time the Town of Carbonear signed an agreement with the Princess Sheila Seniors Club that the club had the use of the main floor for as long as they were in existence. There were no provisions that referred to others using the building except that no other part of the building would be used for anything without the club's approval.
Now the Town of Carbonear has resorted to another means of skulduggery in an effort to get their own way.
Now they have signed a lease with the unsuspecting seniors, who are tired of relentless hassles with council.
I am tired also of knocking heads with people who fail to understand that they are elected to serve the people and uphold agreements that they inherit after they are elected.
I hope the situation we now have will not result in the club being asked to leave the building at sometime in the future.
I saw what goes around comes around.
Let's see if I am right!
George R. Lambert
Carbonear
