Flyers, Junior Stars drop heartbreakers
It was not a good weekend for junior teams in the Trinity-Conception region. Neither the Conception Bay North Junior Stars or the Trinity-Placentia Junior Flyers could muster a win. In Bay Roberts Friday night, the Junior Stars saw a late one-goal third period lead evaporate in a matter of moments as the CBR Renegades were able to tie the game, and eventually score the winner within 20 seconds of each other. Jacob Lewis, Cody Batten and Anthony Nippard scored for the Junior Stars. In Whitbourne, the Flyers surrendered four first period goals en route to a 4-3 loss to the Southern Shore Breakers. Darrin Wilkins, Curtis March and Jonathan Oake scored for the Flyers. On Saturday night, the Flyers dropped an 8-2 decision to the league leading St. John's Capitals. The Compass was there to check out both home games.
