Julia Keefe, of the Conception Bay North Skating Club, grabbed the top spot in the pre-preliminary women II (nine years and younger) division at the Eastern Region Interclub competition held March 17 in Placentia.
Keefe's gold finish was the only first place finish for the club, which also managed to grab one silver medal and three bronze medals.
Emily Dawson finished behind Keefe in the pre-preliminary women II division, capturing the silver medal.
In the pre-preliminary women II (10 years and older) division, Chelsey Crane was able to take 3rd place and the bronze medal. Lexie Smith narrowly missed the podium with a 5th place finish.
The CBNSC had two skaters competing in the preliminary women (12 years and older) division. Both Syndey Nascimento and Caitlyn Crosbie finished in the top five, with Nascimento capturing the bronze medal and Crosbie ending up in 4th place.
Other results from the competition are as follows:
- Pre-preliminary women II (10 years and older) - Chloe Harris, 5h; and Rakel Bishop, 7th;
- Preliminary women (10 and 11 years) - Lakeisha Ralph, 6th; Sydney Smith, 7th;
- Preliminary women (nine years and younger) - Lindsey Porter,3rd.
The CBNSC also had a number of skaters participating in the CanSkate program. They included: Carly Crane, Beth Edmunds, Makenna Hunt, Syrai Fitzgerald, Maggie Gosse, Jesse Harris, Hannah Young, Mackenna Clarke, Hannah Green, Katie Nascimento and Maria O'Neill.
Next up for the club is its annual ice show at the S.W. Moores Memorial Stadium in Harbour Grace, April 1. The event starts at 4:30.
Titled, 'Imagine,' the show will feature 200 skaters including CBN Skating Club CanSkate skaters, Star Skaters, competitive skaters, two synchronized skating teams and the newly formed dance teams.
