Purple and gold: the colours everyone seems to be cheering since the 2012 Newfoundland and Labrador Cheerleading Association provincial championships on Saturday May 2. The St. Francis Crusaders Cheerleading Team of Harbour Grace is made up of 15 dedicated young ladies that have been practicing since November. The girls were very excited to compete at provincials, since the school has only performed there twice before, and placed second both times.

As former cheerleaders and provincial champions, Sabrina and Laura Jenkins know how much work and dedication goes into being a cheerleader. The Jenkins sisters dedicated their time to help the Crusaders be the best cheerleaders they could be, in hopes of bringing home a provincial medal. They were successful when St. Francis was announced as provincial champions of Level 1. The girls performed twice, with their amazing routine.

Laura Jenkins stated the following: “I am so proud of my cheerleading team! They performed an amazing routine and becoming provincial champions was just an added bonus! These girls worked so hard, and they deserved to be commended for their amazing year!"

Mallory Gillespie was named the Team MVP, and St. Francis also won the award for best pyramid.
