The Tri-Pen female bantams have secured a spot at the Atlantic AAA Invitational tournament set for April 19-21 at the Glacier in Mount Pearl.
The team, comprised of players from the Bonavista, Burin and the Avalon peninsulas, bested the representatives from Central 4-3 in a thrilling affair that needed overtime.
Blaketown's Emma Russell was the hero. She buried the winner in the extra frame to clinch the title for Tri-Pen.
Central beat the eventual champions in the round-robin portion of the tournament by a score of 3-1.
En route to the championship, Tri-Pen recorded wins over Eastern and Northern team, and suffered two losses at the hands of teams from Western and Central.
Tri-Pen gained a measure of revenge in victory, as it lost to Central in the finals of last year's tournament.
