After dominating their home opener Saturday night and earning a 7-2 win over the Western Royals, the Royal came back fighting on Sunday afternoon for a much more even match.
In the end it was a 4-2 win for the Cats, but a harder earned one.
Andre Gill scored the lone goal in the first, off a pass from Rob Hennigar and Brandon Nicholas at 5:28.
Just 21 seconds into the second period, Gill struck again to make it 2-0 Cats. Hennigar and Nicholas were once again credited with the assist.
The Royals narrowed the gap at 12:42 when Justin Barbour accepted a pass from Michael Hynes and Steve North to put the visitors on the board and end second-period scoring.
Just over 11 minutes into the final period, Matthew Thomey netted the tying marker from Zach Firlotte and North.
Less than three minutes later, the Cats regained the lead, when Andrew Pearcey netter a pass from Rod Short.
Short ended game scoring, from Luke Gallant and Cam Fergus at 18:04.
Up next the Cats will travel to Harbour Grace to take on the Eastlink CeeBee Stars Nov. 9 and Nov. 10.
