Tryouts for the Avalon region female hockey team for the 2014 Newfoundland and Labrador Winter Games in Clarenville are scheduled to be held at the Trinity Placentia Stadium in Whitbourne on Jan. 18.

The day will be divided into two one-and-a-half hour sessions with the first scheduled for Noon-1:30 p.m. and the second sessions starting at 3 p.m. and ending 4:30 p.m.

Players must be 13-16 years of age as of Dec. 31, 2013 and must be registered with Hockey NL, as well as playing girls hockey, if it is offered by their home association.

If any player in the Trinity-Conception-Placentia region are interested

The Avalon Region will have players from the following: all communities on the Avalon Peninsula and Isthmus of Avalon which are not included in St. John's North or Mount Pearl South, and include all Conception Bay South to Holyrood.

The region also takes in the Conception Bay North shore from Conception Harbour to Grates Cove, as well as the Trinity shore from Old Perlican to Blaketown and up but excluding Arnold's Cove.

The areas surrounding Long Harbour, Whitbourne, and Placentia; the Cape Shore and St. Mary's Bay up to but excluding Trepassey also fall under the Avalon banner.

Players are asked to check with their home association to ensure that they are within the boundaries.

The female hockey portion of the Games will be taking place March 1-5.
