Dozens of athletes from the Trinity-Conception-Placentia region competed during the first half of the 2014 NL Winter Games in Clarenville March 1-4.

Participating in disciplines such as basketball, female hockey, cross-country sking and wrestling, athletes made sure to give their all in the spirit of the Games.

Over the course of the first three days, these competitors made sure the rest of the province recognized their talent and drive.

It was not strange to see other members of Team Avalon from this region supporting each other at the Games. Whether it was the female basketball team rooting for their male counterparts, or the female hockey team spending the afternoon in the gymnasium for the same reason.

The Compass was there and captured these scenes from the various competitions.
