The Caribous beat the Mount Pearl Blades on Friday night to become Eastern Division champions.
The hometown crowd cheered on the Caribous as they took the lead with a power play goal courtesy Steve Yetman, assisted by Blake Gallagher and Ryan Graham at 3:44 in the first period.
A second power play goal came shortly after for the Bous, this time from Andrew Sweetland, who would have a hatrick before the night was through.
It was 3-1 for the Bous by the end of the first, with shots 15-9 in their favour.
The Blades fought back early in the second after Caribous centre Keith Delaney went in the box for hooking. They rang one off the crossbar and forced Caribous goalie Jason Churchill to make a few of his more dramatic saves of the night, but in the end Clarenville killed the penalty.
The Bous racked up three more goals in the second to the Blades one. The Blades top scorer Ryan Graham netted one with the help of Steve Tilley and Mark Tobin. Then things got rough and both teams were given offsetting game misconducts, two of four game misconducts to be metted out that night. At the end of the second it was 6-2 and shots 29-15 for the Bous.
It was more of the same in the third, with the Blades starting the period shorthanded on a Mark Tobin penalty for slashing. Nick Croft and Dale Sullivan ended up scoring for the Bous in the third, while Cory Blackmore netted the last one for the Blades, with a final score of 8-3.
The Caribous are now Eastern Division champs and go on to face Western Division powerhouse Cataracts who recently swept the Western Royals in four games.
