A trio of recreation leaders in the Conception Bay North are being recognized for their work in their local communities.

 

A trio of recreation leaders in the Conception Bay North are being recognized for their work in their local communities.

Angela Norman (Bay Roberts), Robert Clarke (Upper Island Cove) and Randy Harris (Carbonear) are amongst 20 individuals being highlighted for their involvement in the recreation world by Recreation Newfoundland and Labrador as announced today in a news release.

“It is an excellent situation when the important time and vital efforts that they made are being recognized, and these valuable individuals are aware that their efforts are not being ignored,” said Dawn Sharpe, president of Recreation Newfoundland and Labrador.

Each person will be presented with certificates of appreciation for their volunteer work. They will be presented in conjunction with Recreation NL, the department of tourism, culture and recreation, as well as DownHome Magazine.

“Extremely important to the overall success of a variety of recreation programs, the twenty volunteers being recognized have played major roles in the overall recreation situations in their communities,” said Sharpe.

Other leaders being recognized are: Clayton Pitts (Canning’s Cove), Connie Bennett (Wabana), Darryl Pye (Torbay), Dean Bailey (Trinity), Francis Barnes (St. John’s), Jane Hayse (Parker’s Cove), Jim (James) Cox (Newtown), John Goldthrope (Paradise), Kevin Legge (Conception Bay South), Kevin Pittman (St. Lawrence), Lydia Burke (Long Harbour), Pat Murray (Pouch Cove), Richard Levandier (Mount Pearl), Rod Nicholl (Clarenville), Sheila King (Portugal Cove-St. Philips), Shirley Scott (Grand Bank), William Carter (Port aux Basques).
