McNally's repeat championship glory

The rejuvenated CBN Men's Basketball League concluded its second season with a repeat championship run.

 

McNally's captured their second straight CBN Men's Basketball League title with a 108-64 victory over Clarke's Furniture at St. Francis in Harbour Grace on April 27. McNally's captured its second straight league title with a 2-0 series sweep over Clarke's Furniture in the final series.

It was as rematch of the final series last season, and pitted the top-two finishers in the league during the regular season.

The champions clinched the series with a resounding 108-64 defeat of Clarke's at St. Francis in Harbour Grace on April 27.

While the game was close at the conclusion of the first quarter, McNally's pulled away over the final three periods.

It was a balanced attack pacing the offense for the victors. Guard Shane Lambert lead the way with 26 points, while Trevor Smith added 24 points in the win.

Nick Mercer lead the way for Clarke's with 15 points in defeat, while Mike Murrin chipped in 13 points.

In Game 1, McNally's used a third quarter run to pull away from their opponents and finished with a 105-74 victory.

Danny Gosse was the top scorer for the winners with 32 points. Lambert added 30 to help secure the win.

Clarke's Justin Forward poured in 29 points for his squad, while Lyndon Pike helped out with 20 points.

The finals marked the conlcusion of the second year for the rejuvenated men's league.

Before its resurrection last season, it had been several seasons since a men's league had run in CBN.

    Hoping they advertise well when they start again next year. Looking forward to trying to get a spot on a team and taking part. Basketball is a great sport for young and old. Nice to see a league in the area.
