High schools in Placentia and Laval are scheduled to host a number of provincial school sports tournaments this season.

Laval High in Placentia and Ascension Collegiate in Bay Roberts are hosting seven tournaments between them. Left in the cold are Carbonear Collegiate, Crescent Collegiate in Blaketown and Baccalieu Collegiate in Old Perlican
Breaking it down, it is four tourneys for Laval and three for Ascension.
Included in those are a number of AAAA tournaments, including male softball and basketball, as well as female softball and basketball.
The schedule of events gets underway the weekend of Oct. 3-5. Then Laval will be hosting AAA male softball, while Ascension welcomes teams for the AAAA male tournament.
That same weekend, Laval is hosting the female AAA soccer tournament.
Two weekends later, the Langdon Critch Memorial Ball Field at the Wilbur Sparkes Recreation Complex in Bay Roberts will see action at the AAAA female softball level.
Provincial action in the region gets underway March 12-15. That is when Laval (AAA) and Ascension (AAAA Tier -2) host male basketball tournaments.
The following weekend, the best female basketball talent this province has to offer as Laval gets set to entertain the AAAA Tier-1 tournament.
