After 40 years in business, one of Bay Roberts’ busiest shopping destinations has new ownership.

Miranda Management Inc. purchased Beaver Plaza from WC Properties Ltd. The sale was finalized late last month, with the St. John’s-based property management company reportedly paying $4.9 million for the retail shopping centre.

Beaver Plaza opened in 1976 and for many years was primarily known as the home of Wescal Department Store. Today, Foodland, RONA, Great Canadian Dollar Store, Diane's Haircare and the Newfoundland Labrador Liquor Corporation are among the businesses leasing retail space there.

The Compass attempted to contact representatives from Miranda Management Inc. and WC Properties Ltd., but no one could be reached for comment on the sale.
