Bay Roberts, Port au Port East proposals latest to test beer market in N.L.

Mmmm ... beer.
Mmmm ... beer.

The craft beer community in Newfoundland and Labrador could add two options to the marketplace in the not so distant future.

Environmental assessment requests have been made to the office of Municipal Affairs and Environment by Bay Roberts Microbrewery and Secret Cove Microbrewery and The Well Tap Room to develop retail operations in their respective communities.
The Bay Roberts proposal, made by the Baccalieu Trail Brewing Co. Ltd., is for the redevelopment of a building at 1 Conception Bay Highway. This will allow the company to develop a five-barrel capacity brewery complete with a taproom tasting area and retail space.

The microbrewery will produce approximately 1,300 barrels (1,525 hectolitres) of beer annually under its initial proposal.

In the Town of Port au Port East, a new location will be constructed to house Secret Cove Microbrewery and The Well Tap Room.

The beer produced by Secret Cove will be small batch; hand-crafted beer made from all natural ingredients (water, yeast, grain and hops) with no added preservatives.

The establishment will be open to the public on a seasonal basis from May until October.
