Anna Mercer was all smiles as she received her second Junior Rose Bowl in Carbonear on Tuesday, April 4th.

Mercer, 16, is a grade 10 student at Ascension Collegiate in Bay Roberts, and says she has been singing since she was 8-years-old.
“All the hard work and stress has finally paid off,” said Mercer. “It feels absolutely amazing.”
Mercer told The Compass that preparing for an event like the Kiwanis festival is a daily grind, starting no later than September of 2016.
“It’s an every day thing, but there’s a big difference between practicing and actually being up on stage and singing in front of so many people,” Mercer added.
The night started off with several different performances from local musicians, ranging from piano solos, guitar duets, to vocal performances and musical theatre.
Following the performances, several awards were presented, with the Junior Rose Bowl being the final award of the night.
Madison Hurley (instrumental) and Aaron Hussey (instrumental) were the two runners-up for the Junior Rose Bowl award.
