Carbonear Collegiate advances to provincial drama festival

Amalgamated Academy in Bay Roberts claims best junior play award

CARBONEAR, NL — Carbonear Collegiate will represent the Western Avalon region at the provincial drama festival next month in Clarenville.

The school’s production of Don Zolidis’ “That’s Not How I Remember It” was named best senior play at the Western Avalon Regional Drama Festival, held March 1-3 at the Sheila NaGeira Theatre in Carbonear. The Provincial High School Theatre Arts Festival takes place in May.

Amalgamated Academy in Bay Roberts claimed the best junior play award for a performance of “The Baloney, the Zombies, and Other Things I Hide From My Mother” by Bradley Walton.

Eight schools from the Trinity-Conception-Placentia area took part in the event, which featured 10 productions.
