Crescent Collegiate choir impresses in Florida

ORLANDO, FL — A choir from Crescent Collegiate did very well in a singing competition last month in Florida.

Crescent Collegiate Vocal Ensemble earned an invite to the WorldStrides National Youth Choir competition thanks to their results in Florida last month.

The South Dildo school took part in the WorldStrides OnStage competition in Orlando during a trip south of the border April 18-23.

Under the direction of Sarah McDonald, the Crescent Collegiate Vocal Ensemble received a Gold Standard Award and second-place honours in the Women's Choir category. Student Mackenzie Smith also received a Special Ovation Award for her outstanding work as a soloist with the group.

McDonald gave credit to her students for wowing adjudicator's and organizers alike with their beautiful singing, adding they represented the school very well.

The choir also earned an invite to the WorldStrides National Youth Choir event, as well as any of the five WorldStrides Festivals of Gold scheduled to take place next year in different cities across America. These events would give students the opportunity to perform in world-renowned concert halls.

McDonald said she's now working closely with students, staff and the school community to see which opportunity would best suit the choir. She added the choir is grateful to everyone who supported the group on their way to Orlando.
