Crescent Collegiate once again proved its students combine their musical talent in great ways.

Wednesday night, the South Dildo school claimed two Rose Bowls at the Kiwanis Club of Carbonear Regional Music Festival. Crescent Collegiate Vocal Ensemble won the Choral Rose Bowl, with Sonya Gosse's Sonateens named the runner-up. The school's jazz band won the Instrumental Rose Bowl. The Crescent Collegiate Concert Band was the runner-up.

Sarah McDonald, Crescent Collegiate's music teacher, conducted the winning groups. Crescent Collegiate claimed the choral trophy in four of the seven years it's been awarded. This marks the third time it has won the Instrumental Rose Bowl since it was first awarded in 2012.

Several groups were given the go-ahead to attend the provincial Kiwanis competition later this year. St. Francis Elementary Choir, Crescent Collegiate Vocal Ensemble and the Sonya Gosse's Celeste community choir received recommendations to compete provincially.

Wednesday's concert and awards presentation was the second of three taking place. The final concert, where the Senior Rose Bowl will be presented, happens Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
