Craig Sharpe says he's not a very lucky guy when it comes to competitions, but it appears his luck and his voice were right on key March 28.
The Upper Island Cove resident was selected for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform on stage with David Foster and a star-studded array of performers at the Crescendo Gala in Halifax. The line up included, among others, Lionel Richie, Natalie Cole, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Lennine Gallant, and Sinbad.
Sharpe was chosen as a wild card in St. John's during the first round of competition at the Arts and Culture Centre Feb. 9.
He then competed against nine other talented Ovation finalists from six cities across Canada March 28, at the event held at Casino Nova Scotia.
"It was amazing. I was going to perform for and be judged by David Foster!" says Sharpe.
David Foster and a panel of three other judges selected Sharpe as the winner. The next day (March 29) he performed at an exclusive gala and concert. He also received a $25,000 contract with a casino...See this week's Compass for complete story.
