A group of seas cadets in Brigus have received a promotion.

The 10 cadets are with the 249 Effie M. Morrissey sea cadet corps and have been given the title of able seaman.

This means they have been a part of the first year program of Canadian cadet movement for five months.

Those who are now Able Seaman are Matthew Small, Nicklas Mugford, Colby Pryor, Shane Barfoot, Micheal Brown, Sandra Barfoot, Tamika French, Alexander Akerman, Devon Pryor and Kelsey Fry.

The list of accomplishments for Devon Pryor did not end there. He was also named the 249 Effie M. Morrissey cadet of the month.

Officers based this decision on the cadet’s dress, drill and deportment, as well as overall attendance and participation in all unit activities.

249 Effie M. Morrissey cadets meet every Tuesday, 6:30 p.m.-9 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion in Brigus. Youth aging from 12 - 19 years old are always welcome.
