A 29-year-old Bay Roberts man was in court today facing charges of impaired driving, damaging property and taking a vehicle without consent.

Around 2:30 a.m. Trinity Conception RCMP responded to a single vehicle accident on Badcock Blvd. in the town. The male is said to have been driving during the collision.

When officers arrived on scene, there was no one in the vehicle.

A short time later, a female passenger was found with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. She was transported to hospital by ambulance.

When the male was found, he provided breath samples to officers and it was determined he was over the legal limit of 80 milligrams per 100 millilitres of blood.

The accused is facing charges of impaired driving causing bodily harm, driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in his system, mischief and taking a motor vehicle without consent of the owner.
