Traffic stop leads to Bay Roberts arrest

A traffic stop in Bay Roberts on May 31 has lead to a drug possession charge.


Trinity Conception RCMP stopped a 34-year-old Carbonear man driving a 2002 Nissan Altima just after 2 a.m. Sunday morning for violating the Motor Vehicle Act along Route 70 in the community.

During the stop, officers seized a quantity of cocaine and the driver was arrested.

He faces charges of Possession of Cocaine and two counts of failing to comply with a recognizance Section 145(3) of the Criminal Code, as well as a number of charges under the Highway Traffic Act.

The driver is in custody and is scheduled to appear at provincial court in Harbour Grace Court on Monday (June 2).
