Four people were transported to hospital following a two-vehicle accident in Carbonear early Monday afternoon.

Fire chief Brent Sweeney told The Compass the four people were going to hospital as a precaution. They did not appear to be seriously injured.

The accident happened on Water Street. One car rear-ended another vehicle, and the fire department was called to the accident scene shortly after 12:30 p.m.

Multiple ambulances were required to transport the four people, and the fire department had to reroute traffic between Bannerman Street and O’Donovan’s Lane while emergency crews attended to the scene.
