The Bay Roberts Volunteer Fire Department set its officers and executive Monday night.

During its biennial meeting held at the fire hall on Water Street, the department filled seven officer positions and seven executive positions. The term of these positions is two years.

The officers were selected first, followed by the election of the executive.

Adam Norman went unchallenged and returns to the position of Fire Chief for the brigade. Doug Mercer, who returns as the assistant chief, will join him.

Mercer served the previous two years in the same position.

The rest of the officers breaks down as such:

• Philip Norman — Fire Captain;

• Geoff Roach — Rescue Captain;

• Travis Howell — First Lieutenant;

• Glenn Bradbury — Second Lieutenant;

• Richard Sheppard — Chief Operator;

Once the officers were in place, the election of the executive followed in short order. Travis Howell was named the executive’s president, while Richard Sheppard was elected to the post of vice president.

Mark Tibbo was named secretary and Robert Seymour comes on as the group’s treasurer.

Meanwhile, Silas Badcock, Jimmy Newell and Rodney Reid were named directors.
