Man charged after trying to trick police

A man who tried to switch seats with his female passenger Tuesday afternoon in St. John's was unable to fool the officers who stopped the vehicle.

 

About 2:30 p.m., RNC patrol services spotted a man operating a motor vehicle on Hamlyn Road in St John's and were aware he was suspended from driving.

It was when police were in the process of stopping the vehicle, they say the the male operator changed seats with the passenger.

The 36-year-old Mount Pearl man was charged with driving while suspended under the Highway Traffic Act and breach of court order, Criminal Code of Canada.

He was held in custody and taken directly to provincial court.
