All Hallows students excel in forestry poster contest

Two students from All Hallows Elementary in North River have a flair for art, and their contributions to a poster contest prove it.

Holly Fillier and Haileigh Morgan were among the 13 finalists selected from 700 entrants in the 2015 National Forest Week Poster Contest.

Both of their creations will be featured in a new 12-month calendar. Grade 5 students were asked to create posters depicting fire safety activities at home or in the yard.

The overall winner for the contest was Dwayne Goodyear from Phoenix Academy in Carmanville. Fillier and Morgan each received a fire prevention gift pack.

National Forest Week runs through to Sept. 26.
