Amalgamated student wins NL poster contest

A student from Amalgamated Academy in Bay Roberts is one of four winners in a provincial heritage poster contest.

Grade 6 student Emma Tetford submitted the winning entry for elementary schools in the 2015 Heritage Places Poster Contest. She was among those recognized in St. John’s Monday to mark Heritage Day in Newfoundland and Labrador.

For her poster, Emma drew the old Western Union Cable Building, a Registered Heritage Structure in Bay Roberts that now houses town council offices, a museum and an art gallery.

In addition to receiving a prize for her win, Amalgamated Academy was also awarded a prize. The Heritage Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador oversees the heritage poster contest.
