BAY ROBERTS, N.L. – The Bay Roberts RCMP say they have received several complaints of dogs left unattended in hot vehicles of late.

One resident of Bay Roberts was located and ticketed under the Animal Health and Protection Act on Thursday, July 5.

The vehicle was also towed for offences under the Highway Traffic Act.

The RCMP is reminding people of the guidelines in place under the Animal Health and Protection Act and urging pet owners to make alternate arrangements when travelling with their animals.

Pets should not be left in closed vehicles for any length of time, police advise, especially during the hottest part of the day when temperatures can quickly become extreme.
