St. John’s, N.L. Members of the CFSEU-NL Internet Child Exploitation Team have arrested a 27 -year-old Green’s Harbour man for child exploitation offences.
John Murphy turned himself in at the request of police Tuesday, April 3.
Murphy was detained and appeared in court Wednesday morning on six criminal charges which included two counts of child luring; two counts of making sexually explicit material available to a child; indecent exposure and accessing child pornography.
Murphy was released on strict conditions and must return to provincial court in St. John’s May 18.
Police are encouraging parents to vigilantly monitor their children’s online activities. Cases such as this, police say, demonstrate the importance of parental supervision of a child’s online presence.
An online predator can access children anywhere in the world.
