That's what Rosellen Sullivan told Harbour Grace Provincial Court Wednesday afternoon on behalf of her 23-year-old client, who did not appear in person. Chubbs is charged under the Medical Act of Newfoundland for engaging in medical practice without a license and advertising those services.
Judge Bruce Short agreed to set over the case until Aug. 23, noting he expects to either set trial dates or have the matter proceed by speedy disposition on that date. Chubbs, a Carbonear resident, was charged in February of this year in relation to events that allegedly occurred in 2016.
The full nature of the allegations against Chubbs are not known, though a Carbonear woman told The Compass he offered to circumcise her son. That accusation has not been proven in court.
