Newfoundland’s island population will experience “notable aging” in the next 20 years, Memorial’s Harris Centre says, and in most areas, the number of residents will decline.

The Harris Centre is ready to publicly release details of its population projections for the island. It will host a news conference with Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador at MNL headquarters in St. John’s 1 p.m. Thursday.

Following the news conference, a question and answer panel will take place.

Last year the Harris Centre released its population projection for Labrador and the Northern Peninsula for the years 2016-2036. Read that report here.
