Newfoundland and Labrador’s public service employees recognized

ST. JOHN’S, NL – A ceremony was held in St. John’s today to acknowledge the recipients of this year’s Public Service Award of Excellence.

The recognition is the highest honour that can be received by public service employees in Newfoundland and Labrador.

It recognizes individuals and teams for exceptional work performance and honours achievements in innovation, leadership, successful relationship building, and excellence in service delivery.

Five individual awards were presented and one team award.

The individual award recipients are:

· Dr. David Allison - Health and Community Services

· Dolores Harvey - Service NL

· Melanie Martin - Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation

· Shirley Terry - Children, Seniors and Social Development

· Sharon Williams - Service NL

The team award recipient is the Destination Development Planning Opportunity Management Team whose members all work for Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation.

Members of the team are Scott Andrews, Brent Decker, Sheila Earle, Natalie Falk, Carol Ann Gilliard, Linette Moores, Andrea Peddle, Michelle Power, Jamie Pye, Paula Roberts, Gillian Skinner, Paul Taylor and Chris Tuck.

The Public Service Award of Excellence was introduced in 2001, and 93 individuals and 46 teams have received the award to date.
