HARBOUR GRACE, NL — The preliminary inquiry for two men accused of murdering a North River man will not resume until next March.

Daniel Edward Leonard, 36, and Allan Winfield Potter, 54, are charged with first-degree murder in the death of Dale Porter, whose body was found in front of his home in June of 2014. Leonard is also charged with accessory after the fact to murder. Their arrests in the fall of 2016 coincided with a raid of properties associated with the Vikings Motorcycle Club, an outlaw group both men are reportedly members of.

The preliminary inquiry got underway Nov. 20. The eighth and at the time final day booked at Harbour Grace Provincial Court came and went last Friday. The preliminary inquiry will resume March 20.

Leonard is not in custody, while Potter is being held at Her Majesty's Penitentiary in St. John's. Both of the accused waived their right to appear at the inquiry. All evidence presented during a preliminary inquiry is the subject of a publication ban.
