Three companies to bid on Harbour Grace stadium

It has been three years since the announcement of a new arena in Harbour Grace was made, but it appears the project is now on track to break ground in the near future.

Earlier this month, the town announced that three companies were chosen to submit building proposals for the project, but details have been scarce.

Representatives with the Town of Harbour Grace are remaining tight-lipped on who these three could be.

However, The Compass has learned all three are well-established companies looking to be a part of the process.

Companies EllisDon, Olympic Construction Ltd., and Pomerleau Inc. have been given the green light to compete for the project.

All three have been active in the province in recent years.

EllisDon is completing the new long-term care facility for Carbonear General Hospital. Olympic has had its hand in many projects, including Mile One Stadium and The Rooms.

Meanwhile, Pomerleau is constructing the sports complex in Marystown.

Mayor Terry Barnes would not confirm which companies were chosen, but said the project is well underway, with the hope of beginning construction in the near future.
