Air Canada flight makes emergency landing at St. John's


An Air Canada Jazz flight touched down safely at about 10 a.m. at St. John's International Airport after declaring an emergency.

A spokesperson for the St. John's Airport Authority said the plane en route to Halifax had a maintenance issue but landed safely in St. John's, without incident. There were 74 people on board, including the crew.

The St. John's Regional fire department responded with two stations to assist the airport authority response team with the call.

The aircraft was accompanied by two airport fire trucks as it proceeded to the gate.
