Western N.L. accommodations mistakenly downgraded in Traveller’s Guide print edition

The print edition of the 2017 Traveller's Guide contains errors downgrading many accommodations in western Newfoundland, according to Peter Fenwick, western director of the Newfoundland and Labrador B&B Association.

A typographical error in this year’s printed edition of the province’s Travellers Guide has downgraded up to half the accommodations in western Newfoundland.

"Obviously the Canada Select ratings officer gave the province the correct ratings, it was when they were printed in the guide that the massive error occurred,” Peter Fenwick, western director of the Newfoundland and Labrador B&B Association, said in a news release.

Apparently hotels and other accommodations that received three-and-a-half star ratings from Canada Select are incorrectly listed as three stars while others with a four-and-a-half star rating are identified as four stars.

The error means many accommodations will be overlooked by tourists who search for a certain quality of places to stay, the release suggested.

"Remarkably the same error was not made for central and eastern Newfoundland, and the ratings in the provincial online guide appear to be accurate,” Fenwick said.
