In a heart-warming display of camaraderie and sportsmanship, Lance Warren of Long Harbour is seen embracing goalie Jesse Harnum of Trinity South following the conclusion of a novice (ages 7-8) hockey game at the arena in Bonavista on Feb. 23.

Both are members of the Trinity-Placentia TeePees squad, based at the arena in Whitbourne.

The TeePees had just capped off an impressive 6-1 victory over the host team, finishing the weekend with a record of 2-1. The team, which included 17 players and two goalies, was likely inspired in their final game after watching Team Canada defeat Finland in the gold medal final of men’s hockey at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia.

The Whitbourne team is coached by Malcolm Warren, Dwayne Warren, Greg Smith, Jeff Reid and Perry Harnum. The team’s manager is Greg Elford.
