Locals named to Canada Games team

A group of Trinity-Conception-Placentia female hockey players have been named to this province's 2015 Canada Games squad.

In a release by Hockey NL Aug. 18, the four young athletes will represent this province at one of Canada's greatest sporting extravaganzas in Prince George, B.C., Feb. 13-Mar. 1.

Defenceman Abigail Gambin (Dunville), along with forwards Shailynn Snow (Clarke's Beach) Brooke Williamson (Bay Roberts) and goaltender Kelsey Shute (Harbour Grace).

The four join 16 other outstanding female hockey players on the team.

The region will also be represented on the team's bench as New Harbour's Jennifer Pollett is an assistant coach with the team.
