MONCTON, NB — A young defender from Bareneed had a unique opportunity to display his talents in front of junior hockey scouts last month at a tournament in New Brunswick.

Corey Parsons, a defenceman who plays for the Tri Pen Osprey, was selected to participate in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Prospect Game, played Nov. 17 as part of the Monctonian tournament. The annual tournament played in Moncton attracts the best major midget teams from across Atlantic Canada.

Parsons, who played for Team Blue, is a big body on the blueline. Despite being only 15, he's already 6'4" and 189 pounds. For the prospect game, Parsons was one of only four players from Newfoundland and Labrador selected to take part. He notched one assist in four games at the tournament.

The Osprey bowed out in the quarter-final round of the Monctonian after going 3-0 in round-robin action playing in the B division.
