Carbonear Collegiate Sentinels claim victory at senior boys basketball tournament

CARBONEAR, NL — The Carbonear Collegiate Sentinels saw plenty of success this weekend on home court.

The Heart & Sole Senior Boys Invitational was hosted at Carbonear Collegiate this past weekend from Saturday morning, Jan. 20 to Sunday afternoon, Jan 21.

Carbonear Collegiate Sentinels went undefeated throughout the tournament, with four straight wins throughout Saturday and Sunday, along with the big win during the championship game Sunday afternoon.

The championship game saw plenty of back-and-forth action, but the Sentinels pulled through, claiming a solid victory against the St. Catherine’s Eagles at 68-43.

In game one of round robin play, the Sentinels found themselves sharing the court with the Roncali Cardinals, beating them 70-41. Game two for CC pitted them against the Ascension Astros, where the Sentinels scored 50 points to Ascension’s 31.

The third game for the Sentinels, and the final game for Saturday, had them play against St. Catherine’s, where they played a tight game, finishing with a score of 76-60.

The second game held on Sunday, and the fourth game of the tournament for the Sentinels, saw CC facing off against the Baltimore Broncos, however CC managed their fourth consecutive win, finishing the game at 73-65.
