Continuing with the celebration of its 30th anniversary in 2019, the Bay Roberts Heritage Society recently held an event honouring the history of a local school.

In addition to being a big year for the local society tasked with preserving the history of the Conception Bay North community, 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of Amalgamated Academy, which now serves students from grades five to nine.

On Sunday, July 28, the society hosted a special gathering for teachers and students past and present at the former Cable Building on Water Street, now the home of the Road to Yesterday Museum and Christopher Pratt Gallery, to recognize the anniversary. A small display set up for the event included a variety of momentos from the school.
