Spaniard’s Bay Thanksgiving supper

Spaniards Bay Holy Redeemer Vestry will be having a Thanksgiving supper Oct. 11 at the Church Hall. Cost is $8, includes soup, sandwich and desert. Take out 3-5 p.m. and eat in 5-6:30 p.m. You can purchase tickets from any member or pay on door.

Author reading at Carbonear library

Author Nellie P. Strowbridge will read from her book "Ghost of the Southern Cross" on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 2-4 p.m. The library wishes to thank the support from the League of Canadian Poets and the Canada Council for the Arts for funding this reading.

Spaniard’s Bay haunted house

The Spaniard’s Bay Recreation Centre is hosting its 4th annual Haunted House event Friday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m.

Shearstown Halloween Dance for MS

At The Shearstown Lions Club building. Doors open at 9 p.m. Tickets are $15. Music by Jim Parsons. Advance ticket purchase enters your name for an extra door prize. Cash prizes for best costume, most original and scariest. All proceeds support the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.

Old-Time Country Music

The Bay Roberts Lions Club is hosting an old time country music-bluegrass open mic session on the fourth Sunday of every month. Doors open at 1 p.m. and the show starts at 2 p.m. There is a $5 cover charge at the door and cafeteria service is available. Musicians are encouraged to bring along an instrument and participate in the entertainment or just sit and tap your feet to the sound of some of your favorite country songs. Hope to see you there.

New Hope Al-ANON

Meets every Tuesday 7:30 p.m. at the U-Turn Addictions Centre in Carbonear, at 46 Powell Drive. A 12-step recovery program for relatives and friends of alcoholics.

Wednesday

NAR-ANON

The Trinity Conception NAR-ANON Family Group offers a 12-step program designed to help relatives and friends of addicts recover from the effects of their addiction. We always maintain personal anonymity. Meetings Wednesday nights, 7:30-8:30 p.m. at the U-Turn Addictions Centre, 46 Powell Drive, in Carbonear. For information, call 786-1797 after 5 p.m.
