BAY ROBERTS, NL — In response to an unfortunate turn of events for a local musician, entertainers in the Conception Bay North area are banding together to help one of their own.
David Fitzpatrick, a performer based in Brigus known for his work with The Fables and many others, had an accident just before Christmas that left him with several broken ribs. As a result, Fitzpatrick was forced to cancel a number of gigs. He is reportedly unable to perform for a minimum of eight weeks.
With that in mind, several performers are set to play at a special benefit show for Fitzpatrick on Saturday, Jan. 20 at West Side Charlies in Bay Roberts. The current lineup, in order of scheduled appearance, includes Evan Brennan, Gregory Fitzpatrick, Colin Bradbury, Shanda Hopkins, Andrew Westcott, Andrew Callahan, Roddy Chipman, Jim 'Wildfinger' Mercer, Juanita Lidster, Sarabeth and Julia Fitzpatrick, Jacob Lewis and Brandon 'Chunk' Dawson.
"As many of you know, David Fitzpatrick has been not only a great contributor to the music industry but to musicians, community members and organizations as well," event organizers wrote on the event's Facebook page. "He's always been there to host or perform at a benefit or fundraiser and is always willing to help those in need. Now it's our turn."
The show is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. and will also include prizes and giveaways. A minimum donation of $10 will be accepted at the door. People can also contribute to the benefit by making an e-Transfer to firstname.lastname@example.org.
