Crescent Collegiate had an excellent week at the Kiwanis Club of Carbonear’s Regional Music Festival, capping it off with a pair of significant awards.
The Blaketown school claimed both the Choral and Instrumental Rose Bowls at the 49th annual event, earning a total of $600 for the two wins. The Crescent Collegiate Vocal Ensemble received the choral award, with Laval High School claiming the runner-up prize. The Crescent Collegiate Jazz Band was awarded the instrumental honour, with the Amalgamated Academy String Orchestra earning the runner-up award.
Sarah McDonald conducted the winning groups. The school has won the choral prize in five of the nine years it has been awarded at the festival. Crescent Collegiate has also claimed the instrumental trophy four times since it was first awarded in 2012. The school last won double Rose Bowls in 2017.
