BAY ROBERTS, NL — A new speed bump is soon going to be placed in front of Coley’s Point Primary.
During a regular council meeting held on Tuesday night, Nov. 14, council members discussed the placement of a new speed bump in front of Coley’s Point Primary, which is located on Sod Lane. Council came to agree that the bump was something that needed to be looked after as soon as possible.
Deputy Mayor Walter Yetman initially brought up the bump, making a motion that the speed bump be placed on the road now that pavers were in town. The motion called for one speed bump, though Yetman noted that two would be ideal in the future.
Coun. Dean Franey followed up the motion with a suggestion for a new kind of speed bump which allows for easier access by large vehicles such as fire trucks, however, it was ultimately decided that the speed bump being placed in front of Coley’s Point Primary would be similar to the one in front of Amalgamated Academy.
Yetman’s motion was carried, though no exact date was set for the bump to be placed.
