All Hallows student places third in poster contest

A student at All Hallows Elementary in North River, Ireland Cleary, recently earned third place in the annual Multi District N4 Lions International Peace Poster Contest.

An awards ceremony took place Nov. 24 at the Conception Bay South Lions Club. Cleary advanced to the competition after earning top honours at the Bay Roberts Lions Club level.

Each year, Lions clubs around the world proudly sponsor the Lions International Peace Poster Contest in local schools and youth groups. This art contest for kids encourages young people worldwide to express their visions of peace.

For more than 25 years, millions of children from nearly 100 countries have participated in the contest.

The theme of the 2014-15 Peace Poster Contest was "Peace, Love and Understanding."

Students ages 11, 12 or 13 on Nov. 15 were eligible to participate.
